Rav Wilding takes to the track

Bike-mad TV star Rav Wilding rode a Honda CBR600RR at the Ron Haslam Race School at Donington Park last week.

Wilding, who has presented shows like Crimewatch, Crime Scene Rescue and Helicopter Heroes, has a Triumph Speed Triple, but has also owned a Street Triple R and a Honda CBF1000.

This was his third visit to the school and said: “When I first passed my test I was nervous about riding in the rain, but a friend suggested Ron’s school in the wet, to prove what you can actually do. That’s what I did and it transformed my riding – after that day it made riding in all-weathers much more enjoyable.

“I’ve had sub-125s on and off for nearly 20 years and I only got round to doing my test two years ago. It’s something I’d always wanted to do, but I was put off by the way the test has become more complicated. But it shouldn’t have as I sailed through – I should have done it years ago.

“I did 9000-miles last year alone and using the bike daily has saved me a fortune on London parking and congestion charges. It’s actually paid for my monthly payments!”
