There's a new Lamborghini coming

Any mere mortal can pony up the measly $300 entry fee to check out the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. But amid the pageantry of Monterey Car Week, there are plenty of invite-only events reserved exclusively for the hobby's upper echelon.

And this is one of them.

Details are slim, but Motor Trend is reporting that Lamborghini will reveal its latest hypercar at a private showing sometime during the festivities, which are scheduled for August 13-16. Barring any leaks, the great unwashed will have to wait at least until September's Frankfurt Motor Show to see it. Per custom, there's been no comment from Sant'Agata.

Unlike the single-seat Egoista concept, the car expected to be unveiled at Pebble Beach will see production, like its predecessors the Reventon and Veneno. Numbers will naturally be low— reportedly limited to 30—with most two-thirds of the examples being coupes and a third roadsters. Prices on the other hand, will be stratospheric. A figure in the multiple millions is a given.

For the money, buyers can expect a street-legal machine based on the Aventador SV LP750-4, but with less weight and more power. If history is any guide, the lines will thrill fans who feel modern Lamborghini design isn't ferociously extreme enough, and horrify those who thought the Veneno looked like an electric shaver.
