NANUET, N.Y. (AP) - Sen. Charles Schumer is calling on the MTA to find an alternative to a soon-to be eliminated late-night train to Rockland County.

NJ Transit is scheduled to cancel a weekday train from Secaucus, N.J., to Pearl River, Nanuet and Spring Valley on Sept. 30. The 12:45 a.m. train will be eliminated to save money.

Schumer is asking the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to find an alternative. He’s proposing these options: A new bus service from Secaucus or an adjusted bus service from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in mid-town Manhattan.
