PATIALA: BJP MLA from Amritsar Navjot Kaur Sidhu today threatened to quit the party if it decides to fight the 2017 Assembly elections in alliance with the SAD.
"I will quit BJP if the party continues its alliance with SAD (in 2017 Assembly polls)," Sidhu said while talking to media during a private function here today.

"As of now I am in the BJP and committed to fulfil my promises to electorate for full five-year term (till 2017)," she said.

Sidhu, who is also Chief Parliamentary Secretary in the SAD-BJP government, accused the SAD leadership of "not giving" proper attention to her constituency.

Known for her outbursts against the Akalis, Sidhu said, "Punjab government is being run by three people - Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, and (Minister) Bikram Singh Majithia".

She said that the three SAD leaders were "responsible for sidelining the Sidhu family" and "there is no say of BJP workers in the state."

"I treated Sukhbir Singh Badal as my brother but he betrayed me," she added.

On the question of her cricketer-turned-politician husband Navjot Singh Sidhu being made the state party president she said the Sidhu family was ready to accept whatever responsibility it is entrusted with.
