Solar lights illuminate Narayani bank in Bharatpur

CHITWAN: A bank of Narayani River in Bharatpur has been illuminated with solar lights installed by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chitwan chapter.

A total of 46 solar lights were installed with the fund of Rs 4.64 million collected from different agencies and corporations, allowing people here to enjoy the picturesque view.

President of FNCCI Chitwan chapter, Kalyan Joshi, said the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre, Bharatpur Sub-Metropolitan City, Nepal Tourism Board and the FNCCI had contributed funds for the project.

The FNCCI, in its leadership, has been organising Chitwan Festival every two years for fund generation. The Federation invested the amount remained from the festival in the solar lights, according to Joshi.

For now, the solar lights have installed from the back of Youth Club to the Gaureshwor Temple.

The Federation wants to take care of other public properties of the area, but the negligence by the Bharatpur Sub-Metropolitan City has discouraged them from doing so, according to Joshi.

The Sub-Metropolitan City's Chief Engineer, Bharat Acharya, however, has stated that the management of the area should be done keeping the City's ownership intact while recognizing support from the FNCCI and other local organisations.
