MUMBAI: Indian golf prodigy Shubham Jaglan carded a two-under 270 in the third and final round to finish sixth in the US Kids World Championship played at the Little River Golf Resort in North Carolina (US) late on Sunday.
The 10-year-old sank an eagle on the third hole and three birdies on the back nine (13th, 15th and 18th) to finish 11 strokes behind local boy Allan Kournikova, who fired a seven-under 65 to clinch the title by a nine stroke margin.

Kournikova, whose overall tally reads 18-under 198, had registered the lowest round of the edition with a nine-under 63 in the opening round. Kournikova was followed by fellow American Luke Coyle and Filipino Sean Dominique Granada in joint second spot with a three-day total of nine-under 207. Chinese Yang Kuang shared the fourth position with Johnnie Clark of the US at eight-under 208.
Jaglan, the son of a milkman from Haryana, had created ripples in golfing circles after winning two titles in two weeks’ time. Jaglan had won the International Junior Golf Academy’s (IJGA) world stars of junior golf tournament in Las Vegas on July 24 to add to his Junior World Golf Championships crown in San Diego two weeks back.
Another Indian Arjun Bhati moved up 11 places to finish tied 24th after carding a one-under 71 in the final round, while Delhi’s Nihaal Singh Sandhu ended a dismal tied 70th in the 141-strong field with a 18-over 234 total.
