Sena blames Congress for coining ‘Hindu terror’

An editorial in Saamana said the Congress had actually strengthened Pakistan’s hands.

The Shiv Sena has blamed the previous UPA regime for floating the term “Hindu terror”, and described it as its biggest mistake.

An editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana, purportedly reflecting party chief Uddhav Thackeray’s views, stated, “The UPA has committed several mistakes. The biggest was putting forward the concept of Hindu terrorism. For this sin, the Congress cannot be pardoned.”

The editorial said that in a bid to project itself as non-partisan and secular, the Congress had actually strengthened Pakistan’s hands. Asserting that it would be wrong to blame the whole Muslim community, the party said Pakistan had lured some Muslim youths towards terrorism. “It would be wrong to generalise…we have never accused all Muslim community members…and would never do so. But it cannot be forgotten that Pakistan has given protection to terror.”

The Sena said when P Chidambaram during his sint as home minister put forward the concept of Hindu terror, the term was met with approval from Pakistan’s Hafiz Sayeed, accused of carrying out terror activities.
