College principal, staff arrested for facilitating cheating through Whatsapp

The incident took place on July 28 during the examination paper of the second semester of Basic Training Certificate (BTC) in the Tilak Dhari Singh Inter College.

The principal of a government inter college in Jaunpur district was arrested along with three teachers for facilitating cheating through Whatsapp.

Thought the incident took place on July 28 during the examination paper of the second semester of Basic Training Certificate (BTC) in the Tilak Dhari Singh Inter College and three teachers (invigilators) were arrested red handed from the spot, the principal Virendra Pratap Singh was arrested on Sunday.

"We got the information soon after the exams started and raided the college. We found that examinations were going on the first floor of the college in two rooms and most of the candidates were having mobile phones. Questions were sent out via mobile and the students were getting the replies on Whatsapp. We seized 13 mobile phones, guide books from the spot and arrested three teachers", district magistrate BC Goswami informed.

After investigations, it the principal was also found involved and was arrested on Sunday. "We presented him before the magistrate and he was sent to 14 days judicial custody. We are probing the matter further", Goswami added.
