Beyoncé had better beware because US first lady Michelle Obama is after her job.

In an interview posted on Instagram with rapper Wale, President Barack Obama's wife was asked a number of questions - ranging from education to entertainment.

She was asked: "If you had the opportunity to have a different occupation, what would it be?"

Michelle replied: "I would be Beyoncé.

"I've got the hands-up," she said, demonstrating Beyoncé's Single Ladies hand gesture.

It's no secret that the Obamas are fans of Queen Bey, who sang Etta James's At Last at Obama's 2009 inaugural ball, and The Star Spangled Banner at his 2013 inauguration.

The interview was conducted following the Beating the Odds Summit at the White House, where Michelle was helping teens transition to college.

She was asked about the best way to get financial aid to study.

"Don't be afraid. Ask for help," she said.
