The 27-year-old artiste manager employed with Zee Music who fell from the fourth floor of Guru Drishti building in Versova, died in Kokilaben Ambani Hospital on Sunday after being in a coma for 10 days.

The woman, identified as Gunjan Kapur, was in an inebriated condition when she fell from the window of her apartment after losing her balance and landed on an Alto parked under the building around 3 am on July 24.

Police sources said Kapur’s parents were not aware that she used to drink and were completely taken aback by the incident. “The girl was in coma for ten days and passed away on Sunday at 8 pm. Her family is in a state of shock. Her body will be handed over to them. They will be taking the body to Indore to perform her last rites,” said PSI Afzal Mulani with Versova police station.

The blue Alto belonged to Bollywood and Marathi cinema actor Makarand Deshpande’s relative. Deshpande lives in the same building.

“The woman had invited some friends over for a party. She was sitting on the window, which is not grilled, and was drinking while talking to her friend when she lost her balance and fell,” said a police source.

The police have ruled out foul play, and the statements of eight of her friends who were present in the room at the time of the incident have also been recorded. Kapur was immediately rushed to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital where her friends were informed that she is still alive. Her parents and brother flew down from Indore on July 25.
