No matter how many times the Mahabharata has been told and retold in a variety of formats; we still look forward to a refined version of the epic to be narrated by a new storyteller.

The film Pandavullo Okkadu is no exception to this simple rule as the story brings out the concept of unity in a humorous way, taking a leaf out of the great epic. The original version Kappal in Tamil received an overwhelming response.

With Vaibhav playing the lead role as Vasu in the Telugu version, the film deals with how friendship wins over love.

Narrating the dubbed version of Pandavullo Okkadu , Vaibhav, who made a surprise appearance at Varun Inox (screen-3) on Friendship Day, accompanied by his father and director A. Kodandarami Reddy, says that his role is sure to make an impact on the audience. “The movie is an out-and-out comedy entertainer. What makes a difference is how the theme has been narrated with altogether a fresh element,” says the hero.

The story of the film portrays how a team of five friends take a vow never to fall in love and get married as they believe that a woman can dent their friendship. “How Vasu, one of the friends, leaves the village and eventually falls in love with Sonam Bajwa (heroine), how the other friends discover the love affair and demand Vasu choose between his love and their friendship form an interesting part of the movie,” explains Vaibhav.

Despite having an accomplished director as his father, Vaibhav feels that such support system is always short-lived. “Ultimately, what allows you to sustain in this highly competitive field is how you reach out to audience with your innovative acting skills,” he clarifies.

Vaibhav has four films to his credit in Telugu, including Godava , Kaasuko , Anamika and Action and a dozen more in Tamil.

Hello Naan Pei Pesuren and Adam’s Apple are a couple of his future projects in Tamil.

Briefing on his Telugu movies, director Kodandarami Reddy says, “As a director, I will be hitting a century very soon. In some of films, Vaibhav will be playing the lead roles,” says the filmmaker.
