Sridevi, wife of Ch. Balramkishan, one of the two hostages still held captive by terrorists of Islamic State in Libya, on Sunday appealed to Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya that the Central government step up efforts to secure her husband’s release.

Mr. Dattatreya immediately called up External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State V.K. Singh to convey her concern. Ms. Sridevi was accompanied by her brother and brother-in-law. Shortly after Mr. Dattatreya left Dilkusha guesthouse for the airport to leave for New Delhi, the wife of another hostage, Gopikrishna, arrived. However, a memorandum submitted to the Minister was signed by both Ms. Sridevi and Ms. Kalyani, wife of Mr. Gopikrishna. Mr. Dattatreya assured Ms. Sridevi that he would again speak to Ms. Sushma Swaraj.
