Two members of inter-state dacoit gang arrested

Two members of an inter-state gang of dacoits, involved in a daring dacoity at Krishna Nagar area in Chakeri in May, were arrested on Sunday.

KANPUR: Two members of an inter-state gang of dacoits, involved in a daring dacoity at Krishna Nagar area in Chakeri in May, were arrested on Sunday. A country-made firearm, cartridges, Rs 12,930 in cash, a motor-cycle and other valuables were recovered from them after a brief encounter in Chakeri.
The gang, active in city, was also involved in dacoities and other heinous crimes in the state, besides Delhi and Bihar.

The crime branch team and Chakeri police made the arrests after an encounter in Chakeri. They were arrested under various sections, including 392 and sections 3/25 and 4/25 of the Arms Act.
The two were identified as Shahrukh and Badshah of New Delhi's Seemapuri area. They are brothers and originally hail from Darbhanga district of Bihar.
SSP Shalabh Mathur said that the dacoits used to conduct a recce in posh areas and after committing crime, return back to their hideouts in New Delhi. They mainly strike at bungalows.
On May 26, the two and their kingpin Shakir, Farukh, Rubil, Shaukat Ali and another dacoit had struck at Krishna Nagar in the house of Manoj Awasthi.
They had injured Awasthi's father and escaped with Rs 2.5 lakh, besides a licensed revolver, jewellery and two mobile phones.
The arrested dacoits confessed to their involvement in many dacoities in Delhi, Ghaziabad and West Bengal and UP. They were sent to jail.
