Ras Al Khaimah: Endurance athlete Scott Ragsdale is today due to tackle the third of seven gruelling ironman-distance triathlons on successive days across the seven emirates of the UAE.

After successfully negotiating the first challenge in Fujairah on Thursday, Ragsdale took to the roads and water of Ras Al Khaimah yesterday, before heading to Umm Al Quwain today.

Each day Ragsdale is completing a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and 42km run. In total during the week he will travel a distance 1,580km.

His preparation for the naseba seven has been overseen by former professional triathlete, 42 times ironman finisher and world record holder for double ironman, Mario Huys. His training started last November and has seen Ragsdale travel to Austria, Monaco, France, Germany and Switzerland — as well as enduring the intense heat of the UAE.

The timetable for each day is roughly the same. Starting in the sea at daybreak with the swim, followed by a transition to the bike and riding for up to six-and-a-half-hours, culminating with a run in the early evening.
