UDAIPUR: The Udaipur police busted a cheating gang on Sunday after arrest of three persons involved in cheating at the junior accountant and revenue accountant-2013 examination using high-end electronic gadgets. Two of the accused were arrested on the national highway-27 while they were going towards Pali, while the third one was a candidate, who was attempting the paper at one of the examination centers.
He was connected with the group through bluetooth device of his mobile phone, fitted inside his specially tailored jacket.
The alertness and nakabandi done by Udaipur police helped exposure of similar gangs at Jaipur, Barmer, Rajsamand and Pali districts. The information of the gang was passed on to these places after which many people were arrested from various locations.
"Responding to the high alert call, Gogunda SHO, Bhaiyalal Anjana and his team had laid a check point on NH-27 on Sunday afternoon. They stopped a white swift car at around 3.30 pm which was going towards Pali," informed SP Rajendra Prasad Goyal. Two men Bhagirath Bishnoi, son of Mohanram Bishnoi, resident of Bhatip, Jalore and Baburam son of Gangaram Jat told the police that they were going to Pali for the RPSC examination. Suspecting foul play, the cops checked the vehicle and found some gadgets, including micro bluetooth, micro cells and a Jacket fitted with mobile device. When the men were taken to police station and interrogated, they confessed to be part of a gang that charged money from candidates and facilitated cheating in public examinations.
Upon their lead, the Hiranmagri police arrested one Khetaram, son of Savtaram Bishnoi, resident of Ishnunagar, Luni of Jodhpur district from one of the examination centers in the city. The candidate was attempting the paper while being connected with one of the members of the cheating-facilitating gang through the high-end gadgets. The matter was reported to higher authorities who conducted a raid at a farmhouse in Gudamalani area in Barmer and arrested 4 men who were the mastermind. Four persons were arrested, two each from Rajsamand and Pali. "The gang charged somewhere between Rs 1.5 to Rs 4.5 lakh from candidates against passing guarantee in public examinations. They use high-end gadgets and connected candidates during exam through group calling system and then would dictate answers to the papers they managed to get leaked," Goyal said. The bluetooth and mobile device were too small to be seen by the invigilators, which is hence known as "Makhhi" in local language.
