2 FIRs submitted on child trafficking

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday submitted two first information reports in connection with the alleged trafficking of 456 students from Bihar and Jharkhand and another batch of 123 students from West Bengal to Kerala.

The first FIR, submitted at the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate court, names Abdul Hadi Ansari, Hafeez Ghos, Muhammed Alamgir, and Moulana Fayal Ulla, all hailing from Bihar, and Muhammad Idris Alam and Visvas Khani of Jharkhand as the accused.

The second FIR names Manzoor, Bakker, Dosh Muhammed, and Jashir, all residents of Malda district in West Bengal, as the accused. The accused have been booked under IPC Section 370(b).

The first FIR pertains to a case in which the railway police rescued 456 children, 230 girls and 226 boys, from the Palakkad railway station on May 24, 2014.

The children in the age group 5-13, were found travelling on an Ernakulam-bound train from Patna.

Next day, the railway police intercepted another batch of 123 boys from West Bengal at the Palakkad railway station who arrived on a train from Guwahati.

The CBI took over the case from the Crime Branch based on a Kerala High Court order on July 7.

Both the cases are being investigated by a team under CBI Dy.SP Lata Manoj Kumar, CBI Special Unit, New Delhi.
