The wedding collection presented at day 4 of Amazon India Couture Week was all about the grandiose we see in Bollywood films. Dramatic embellishments and OTT designs – this is for the bride who doesn’t mind breaking the bank for her big day.

Rohit Bal

ROHIT BAL
One of the best showmen in the business, Rohit Bal turned the banquet hall at The Imperial Hotel into an apple orchard for his show. Models were cocooned in roses, wearing voluminous anarkalis and lehengas with flora and fauna embroidery and prints. Flirting with front rowers and handing out champagne, needless to say this show had pretty clothes and very happy faces.

RIMPLE & HARPREET NARULA
British Raj inspired, Rimple & Harpreets collection was decadent and ornate with a focus on embroidery and crystal embellishment. The silhouettes were dramatic, from robes and capes to sheer jackets and cloaks. The show was closed by Shilpa Shetty who can give us all a lesson in how to rock a gilded lehenga with a body to die for.

DEBARUN MUKHERJEE
Indian cinema has always been a pivotal source of trendspiration, for Debarun Mukherjee's couture show too. From the 1930s up until now, the collection paid homage to on-screen styles we've all grown to love. Zardozi, embroidery & embellishment were amply used. Aditi Rao Hydari and Chitrangda Singh added the glam quotient to the show.

REYNU TAANDON

REYNU TAANDON
Yet another Persia inspired collection of the week, Reynu Taandon referenced period costumes for her collection. Pieces like shararas, anarkalis and lehengas were adorned with gold in fabrics like lightweight georgette and rich velvet. Another distinguishing feature of the clothes was the use of mirror work inspired from the architecture of Persia.
