Bengal off to a strong start

Sudip Chatterjee and Pankaj Shaw made hundreds as Bengal began strongly against KSCA President’s XI on the opening day of their clash in the KSCA Dr. (Capt.) K. Thimmappiah Memorial tournament here. Shaw scored 112 and Chatterjee remained unbeaten on 123 as Bengal reached 349 for four at stumps on Sunday.

Meanwhile, KSCA XI was in a spot of bother against Assam after being bowled out for 200. C.M. Gautam top-scored with 48 for the host while Assam’s Krishna Das took three for 41.

In reply, Assam was 45 for one at the close of play on the first day of their four-day tie.

At Bengaluru: KSCA XI 200 in 66.5 overs (C.M. Gautam 48, Zeeshan Ali Sayyed 37, Ronit More 34, M. Nidhish 25, Krishna Das three for 41) vs. Assam CA 45 for one in 21 overs.

Orissa CA 203 in 78.1 overs (Girija Roul 51, Alok Chandra Sahoo 33, Prateek Das 31, Ankush Bedi six for 71) vs. Himachal Pradesh CA 39 for one in nine overs (Prashant Chopra 26 batting).

CA of Bengal 349 for four in 90 overs (Sudip Chatterjee 123 batting, Pankaj Shaw 112, Koushik Ghosh 43, Ajmer Singh 33) vs. KSCA President’s XI.
