Delimitation of BMC nears completion

Bicholim: The delimitation of the Bicholim municipal council is nearing completion and the number of wards will be increased from 10 to 12 for the municipality election in October.
The work of delimitation which has been entrusted to the Bicholim mamlatdar’s office is almost complete. A primary report has been prepared but the same will be published only after approval from the DMA.
While undertaking delimitation process stress is laid on three issues. Geographical condition of the ward, number of voters and similarities in respective wards.
The area of wards 1, 3, 5 and 8 is large due to which more importance was given to them. During the last elections the number of voters in all 10 wards was 11,253. With the addition of 718 voters, the total will now be 12,000 due to which 1,000 voters are likely to be retained in each ward.
