True Detective Season 2 Episode 7 Preview: The final untangling is a welcome change

'True Detective' season 2 is coming to an end and we will finally get some answers.

The second last episode of True Detective is called 'Black Maps and Hotel Rooms' and the synopsis reads— “Ray (Colin Farrell), Ani (Rachel McAdams) and Paul (Taylor Kitsch) take precautionary measures to elude detection and untangle a dark mystery. Frank (Vince Vaughn) deals with the fallout of his betrayal.”

Wondering why the synopses are back? It's anybody's guess. With only two episodes left in the series, looks like the showrunners are in a hurry to tie things up. Therefore, going by the synopsis, we can assume that the Caspere case has been untangled and now our detectives need to protect themselves from everyone who was present at the orgy featured in 'Church of Ruins'.

In the promo we can see that Bezzerides is still not over of the fact that she killed a man at that party. That, mixed with flashbacks of past memories, has probably brought her closer to her father and sister. One thread untangled, I'd say.

On the other hand, it looks like Woodrugh is finally admitting his homosexuality to himself. It would be such a relief to watch the end of this unneccessary plotline inflicted upon the viewer. It would also be interesting to finally know the reason that brought Woodrugh to his senses.

Frank Seymon is talking about a war. For Seymon, it sure is. In the show's timeline, six months ago he had everything and he was about to leave the dirty ground he despised. But the Caspere case has brought him back to where he started. So if he is getting revenge on the betrayal by his henchman who threw that god-awful party, that's another story untangled.

For me, I'll be happy to see the story come to an end since the show's 'reboot' in 'Other Lives.' I still feel that 'Other Lives' should have come far earlier in the season to retain some of the viewership and save me some frustration.

Well, better late than never.

True Detective airs every Monday at 6:30 am, with a repeat telecast at 10 pm, on HBO Defined.
