Latest step by CM reflects her willingness to fight the nuisance of illegal liquor

Chief Minister Anandiben’s determination to fight the nuisance of liquor is genuine.

I spoke to one of my friends who consume liquor illegally(without permit). He said it’s bit difficult to get liquor in Ahmedabad for last few months. When it’s available, price is too high, of course due to demand-supply rule.

Even if Chief Minister wishes for so, it’s not easy to root out this evil of illegal liquor in Gujarat due to deep rooted and decades old nexus between police and others with bootleggers.

A few months back, Chief Minister personally scolded top IPS officers for their inability to stop illegal liquor trade. Sometimes when feedback received, Chief Minister has personally ordered raids.

One officer, genuinely non-corrupt and bold against liquor menace is IPS Hasmukh Patel.

As Shamlaji check post and border parts of northern Gujarat had emerged as hub for cross border illegal liquor trade(from Haryana and Rajasthan side), the Chief Minister appointed Hasmukh Patel as DIG of Gandhinagar range.

Now in latest development, Anandiben has given additional charge of state monitoring cell to Hasmukh Patel in capacity of IG.

This is not an ordinary appointment. A special post has been created in State Monitoring Cell to appoint Patel. CID(Crime) IGP level vacant post has been shifted to State Monitoring Cell.

In simple terms, life long fighter against nuisance of illegal liquor trade and gambling activities IPS Hasmukh Patel has been given power to raid any place across Gujarat.

Good thing is that, Hasmukh Patel doesn’t see his fight against liquor and gambling just as part of his duty. He has inner conviction that this menace is not good and it has to be eliminated. He believes that he is lucky to have an opportunity to do so much in this direction in uniform.
