'Arslan: The Warriors Of Legend' Is Coming Westward

This article is more than 8 years old.

Back in May we found out that The Heroic Legend of Arslan was going to get a Dynasty Warriors game, now it seems we’ll be getting this game released in the West early next year.

Entitled Arslan: The Warriors of Legend the game will follow the events of the new and very successful anime TV series.

Based on a series of novels by Yoshiki Tanaka, the same gentleman behind The Legend of Galactic Heroes novels, Arslan is more of a historical drama. Based on the Persian epic Amir Arsalan it covers the events of a young prince who must retake his kingdom.

Over the years there have been a number of adaptations, from an excellent OVA to a few manga iterations. The latest version being this TV series that started back in April and is still ongoing. Thankfully Funimation are streaming the series in the West if you want to check it out.

This new game is based on the new TV anime and uses the updated character designs, rather than the original versions that graced the novel covers as penned by Yoshitaka Amano.

Considering the large battles that occur in the series and the degree of strategy used by the characters, a Dynasty Warriors type game makes a lot of sense.

Developed by Omega Force, the Koei Tecmo team behind the Dynasty Warriors games, this new Arslan game is looking good especially as they are retaining the cel-shaded look from the TV series (as shown above).

Released in early 2016, Arslan: The Warriors of Legend will be made available on PS4, PS3 and Xbox One. The Japanese version of the game will be released this October.
