Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh says being from a political family has no bearing on the kind of movies he chooses to be a part of.

The 36-year-old star, son of late former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, will be next seen in Bangistan, which follows the lives of two blundering terrorists, played by him and Pulkit Samrat, on a mission to change the world. "I don't think the political background has anything to do with the films I should be doing, otherwise I wouldn't have done Grand Masti," Riteish said.

He, however, feels having a political background has helped him become a better speaker. "I hope being from a political family, I have become wiser because you are careful with the words you speak. Being an architect has taught me that less is more. I choose words wisely. "There are times when I do keep my opinion and viewpoints to myself. If I say something, it might be taken out of context," Riteish said.

Commenting on the hype around Rs 100 crore collection for a film, considered a benchmark for success in Bollywood today, the Housefull star said a movie should be viewed beyond this standard. "It (Rs 100 crore club) has become a benchmark which is great. But every film has a different viewpoint, so the business dynamics of every film are different. It should not be the barometer for every film to be successful, the barometer is what is the budget of the film, what is the total investment and recovery," he said. Citing an example, the actor said the budget of Bangistan does not call for Rs 100 crore earning. "Today there are various ways of recovery like music rights, satellite rights, digital, home video and others. The budget of Bangistan (his upcoming film) is not that much that it has to reach the mark of Rs 100 crore," he said.

Bangistan, directed by debutant Karan Anshuman and produced by Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment, also stars Jacqueline Fernandez. It will release on August 7. Riteish is all praise for Jacqueline, who made her acting debut with Aladin opposite Riteish. They worked together again in Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. She did a cameo song in Housefull, which also featured Riteish. "One thing that has not changed about her (Jacqueline) is her intention to work harder every time. She is extremely hardworking. Whenever she comes on the sets, she is like a live wire. There is a certain amount of energy she brings on the sets," Riteish said. "What has changed is the fact is that she has become a better performer and a confident dancer. She has attained a certain level of perfection in her performance," he added.
