TOUGH TIMES FOR JOHN PIRES
MBABANE – John Pires, the Swazi TV breakfast show host, had devised a secret strategy to ask Prophet Nkosingiphile Dlamini to drink petrol during a live morning show a fortnight ago.
Pires says he wanted the miracle prophet to tell him if the petrol tasted like juice.
He said the only way for the public to know if Prophet Nkosingiphile’s miracles were real was to ask him to gulp down the fuel live on Swazi TV; hoping the petrol would not have burned his kidneys but would have tasted like juice when he drank it.
Pires was addressing pastors at a one-day seminar on media coverage on religious controversies organised by the Human Rights Society of Swaziland (HURISWA) and sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) on Thursday at Thokoza Church Centre in Mbabane.
He said there was not enough time to rush to the nearby fuel station to buy the petrol. “The time was limited when we wanted to execute our plan to buy the petrol. We wanted him to drink it because this thing doesn’t kill, so he says. He also says God can make a person eat anything, and the person will not die,” he said.
Pires caused a stir a fortnight ago when he asked Prophet Nkosingiphile to eat the very grass the man of God usually commanded his followers to consume. His followers usually claim the grass tastes like macaroni.
Since grass tasted like macaroni at Bread of Life Ministries, the television morning live show known as Kusile Breakfast Show prepared a ‘grass breakfast’ for the miracle performer. Pires wrapped the ‘macaroni’ in a plastic and hid it under a coffee table.
