INDORE: The induction programme of the fifth batch of Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) concluded on Saturday. Students were given a brief introduction about various facilities available at the institute during the event.
On the second day of the programme on Saturday, chief guest CMD, BHEL, BP Rao shared his experience with the students and held a discussion on ‘India of Today and Tomorrow’.

He said that India’s economy has again started to grow since last two decades. Around 138 million people have been lifted above poverty line during 2004-12. We have made developments in the field of science and technology as today India stands on 17th global rank in terms of citations received and 9th in the number of scientific publications made.
Despite of the growth, India is still facing challenges in terms of social wealth distribution, scarcity of natural resources and climatic changes, he said.
Rao pointed out that the manufacturing sector needs to work in a direction to produce more jobs for the young workforce India will have in the next two decades. He said, “India needs skilled young leaders who can deal with the future scenario and help the country grow. Students, who aspire to go abroad, should go and after gaining experience, should come back to contribute to the development of our nation.”
In his welcome address, director of IIM-I, Prof Rishikesha T Krishnan urged the students to utilize every learning opportunity that would come their way during their course and strengthen their base for specialization in management. He said, “IPM students would have a major advantage as they would have a strong foundation in the core subjects of management from the very beginning.”
IIM Indore’s new website with new features and more user-friendly interface was also launched by BP Rao and Prof Rishikesha T. Krishnan on the occasion.
