MILWAUKEE (AP) - A Glendale police officer is recovering after being injured while chasing a man suspected of stealing a Porsche from an auto dealership.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/1OVCkoF ) that a 28-year-old man stole the luxury vehicle at gunpoint while on a test ride in Glendale, setting off a police chase.

A local officer spotted the vehicle and pursued it until the driver crashed it into a parked vehicle in Milwaukee and fled on foot.

Authorities say the officer chased the suspect to a playground, where the suspect fired at the officer. The officer returned fire and hit the suspect, who was later taken into custody and treated at a hospital.

Police say the 36-year-old officer suffered injuries that weren’t life-threatening, and that he was treated and released from a hospital.
