AU initiates steps to check ragging

As part of its efforts to root out ragging, Andhra University has stepped up its campaign to rid the campus of anti-social elements and non-boarders, a release from the university has said.

Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju held a series of meetings with principals, chief wardens, heads of departments, and chairpersons of Boards of Studies and officials on Saturday. He said that the working hours would be strictly maintained in the university.

The administration is planning to introduce Digital Barcoded ID Cards to all students, research scholars, teachers, and employees. Biometric system would be introduced in all departments, offices, hostels, and mess. CC cameras will be installed in all buildings, offices, and hostels to monitor the movements round-the-clock, Prof. Raju said.

A high level Anti-Ragging Committee was constituted to make the campus free from ragging.
