Rs. 10 crore sanctioned for statue

Minister for Social Welfare and district in-charge H. Anjaneya has said that the State government has sanctioned a total of Rs. 10 crore in the present financial year for the installation of 325 ft bronze statue of Basavanna in Chitradurga.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, he said that the Tourism Department would also be appealed to release funds for the project as it would be developed as the best tourism spot in the district. The State government would extend financial assistance in future also for developing such tourism spots. He also appealed the public to donate generously for the early completion of the project.

Shivamurthy Muruga Sharana informed that a three-day convention of swamis would be held at Muruga Mutt from August 1, in which 300 seers from different parts of the country will take part in different sessions.
