Tension prevailed for some time here on Saturday when a person immolated himself in front of a private school.
Alleging that private schools are collecting huge fee and not adhering to instructions issued by the district authorities, R. Siribabu, State secretary of BC Welfare Association, set himself on fire in front of Sri Chaitanya School, which is located in front of the Collectorate. He was immediately shifted to private hospital.
His condition is stated to be serious.
Activists raised slogans against the management and held dharna for some time in front of the school.
