A family in Labasa, who were still mourning the death of Shaiz Ali, 4, after a fire at Tuatua earlier in the week, have now lost another family member.

Aisma Bi, 48, a grandmother and a mother, was one of the family members who was hospitalised after the tragic incident, which claimed the life of Shaiz Ali.

Husband Mohammed Hanif said his wife would be greatly missed by the members of the community.

“The last time I visited my wife was on Thursday night when she was getting serious,” Mr Hanif said.

He said his wife’s condition worsened last Thursday night and at about 11pm she died.

Son Juman Hanif, 21, said his mother was a very kind lady and he thanked God for giving her rest because of the amount of pain she was going through.

Aisma Bi is survived by her husband and two children.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said another victim of the fire, Ashika Ali, 3, remained in critical condition and had been transferred to Suva’s CWM Hospital.

Investigations into the fire continue.
