LONDON (Dunya News) – A British court on Saturday sentenced a British-Pakistani to life imprisonment for murdering his mother-in-law in Pakistan, in an unprecedented case and sentencing of its kind in both countries’ history.

According to details, Rana Tariq was convicted of murdering his mother-in-law on her doorstep. He reportedly committed the murder two years ago and fled to the United Kingdom (UK).

A murder case was filed in Lahore while the British police arrested the accused in August 2013 and prosecuted in Woolwich Crown Court.

The accused was found guilty on the charge and therefore was sentenced to life in prison meaning Tariq will spend at least 28 years in prison.

Tariq’s sister and brother-in-law were also nominated in the case, however, the court acquitted them of the charges.
