WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) - The Maryland National Guard is opening a renovated center housing a military police unit in Westminster.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday marks completion of an expansion project at the 33-year-old facility on Hahn Road.

The renovation added 16,000 square feet of space including classrooms, administrative offices, equipment storage, an assembly hall, kitchen and computerized weapons simulation center.

The 29th Military Police Company was organized at Westminster in late 2009.

The center previously housed Battery A, 2nd Battalion, 110th Field Artillery Regiment, a unit that saw service in both world wars.
