INDORE: A local court in Shajapur district issued non-bailable arrest warrant against religious preacher Sudhanshu Maharaj on Friday in connection with cheating and forgery case. Within few hours Sudhanshu Maharaj, however, managed to get anticipatory bail from Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Advocate Sanjay Tiwari said Sudhanshu Maharaj failed to appear before court despite repeated reminders and a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against him.

Sudhanshu Maharaj filed for anticipatory bail through his lawyer before HC on which Justice JK Jain granted him anticipatory bail on personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and directed him to appear before court in Shajapur before August 5.
Industrialist Mahaveer Prasad Mansinghka had filed a complaint at Shajapur local court in 2010, stating that he donated Rs 53 lakh for getting relaxation under Section 80-G of Income Tax Act to Sudhanshu Maharaj's 'Vishwa Jagriti Mission.' But the benefit was denied by the department concerned on the ground that the mission had no such facility. The department later imposed a penalty on Mansinghka, following which the bizman filed a complaint alleging that the mission was misleading people . After going through documents, local court in 2010, issued a non-bailable warrant against Sudhanshu Maharaj and nine others. Following which, Sudhanshu Maharaj filed a petition before HC and the court stayed execution of non-bailable warrant .
In June 2015, the high court vacated stay over execution of non-bailable warrant issued by Shajapur local court against Sudhanshu Maharaj and directed him to appear before Shajapur local court before July 30.
Sudhanshu Maharaj, however, failed to appear before court and he did not even present any papers to justify his absence. Hence, the court issued arrest warrant.
