Every structure has a tale to tell

August 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 12:27 pm IST - PULLUR (MEDAK DIST.):

Many parts of Medak district were once habitations for people belonging to Megalithic Age.

This was evident with these Rakhasa Goollu structures found at Ponnala, Palamakula, Baddipadaga, Toopran and Pullur in Siddipet area of Medak district, Kambapur in Karimnagar, Pochampadu in Nizamabad, Dongatogu and Janampet in Khammam district, Chinna Maroor, Pedda Manoor, Uppalapadu and Kudumala in Mahabubnagar district.

Though the Rakhasa Goollu structures in southern and northern parts of Telangana are similar in nature, the structures at Khammam are different.

“We need not protect all the structures but at least one model for each is required. This will be like protecting and passing our history to the next generations,” says P. Brahmachary, Deputy Director, Archaeology Department, Government of Telangana.
