Interacting with students of Yadava College here on Friday, U. Sagayam, Science City Vice-Chairman, said that it was important to set their goals high and approach the future with confidence.

He addressed the students at ‘Impact- 2015,’ an orientation programme for freshers, organised by the Department of Mathematics. His talk was interspersed with anecdotes about his interaction with students during his stints as Collector of Madurai and Namakkal.

“While people look at massive infrastructural changes in cities and term them development, I believe that the right indication of progress is when the villages in our country develop, as Mahatma Gandhi said. I have a special interest in visiting village schools and interacting with children in which a lot of them have told me about their dreams to achieve big in life and be successful,” he said.

Further, asking the students not to look at deficiency in English as an impediment, Mr. Sagayam said that it was not a difficult task to learn the language. He also encouraged them to cultivate reading habit, which would make them future leaders.
