KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - A Kingman man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a roommate with a hatchet and temporarily stashing his body in the garage.

Joshua Matthew McCoy was being held Friday on a $1 million bond. He did not have an attorney listed with the Kingman Justice Court.

Kingman police arrested him Thursday on suspicion of second-degree murder. Deputy Chief Rusty Cooper says McCoy’s girlfriend called authorities to report a dead man’s body in the garage of their home.

Police obtained a search warrant and found the body wrapped in painter’s plastic. Cooper says the 28-year-old McCoy told authorities he had started digging a hole to bury the man’s body under the porch in his backyard.

Cooper says authorities are trying to get ahold of the 61-year-old man’s family before releasing his identity.
