ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A kidnapping suspect in Albuquerque is dead after reportedly exchanging gunfire with law enforcement officers.

KOB-TV reports that Albuquerque police tried to arrest the man near Avenida Cesar Chavez and 3rd Street about 3:45 p.m. Friday when the suspect fled.

The man reportedly was shot in southeast Albuquerque near Edith Boulevard and Garfield Avenue.



However, Albuquerque police have yet to confirm that their officers fired the fatal shots.

The department does say that no officers were injured.

The name of the man hasn’t been released yet.
