DENVER (AP) - Two police officers who shot and injured a man in downtown Denver have been cleared of wrongdoing.

District Attorney Mitch Morrissey said Friday the officers were justified when they shot 28-year-old Chisom Nwandilibe in May. Investigators say Nwandilibe had been pointing a semi-automatic pistol at random people on the street and opened fire on one of the officers.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/S661cb ) the officers fired back, hitting the man in the lower right arm.

Morrissey praised the officers’ response, saying “we are grateful neither officer was injured or killed and that Nwandilibe was not more seriously injured.”
