State neglecting irrigation projects, says BJP

August 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 12:26 pm IST - KARIMNAGAR:

BJP National Executive Committee member Nagam Janardhan Reddy flayed the State government for neglecting the important irrigation sector by not taking any measures for the completion of several ongoing projects in the State.

Mr. Reddy, who launched a yatra under the caption of ‘Bachao Telangana Mission’ and visiting all the ongoing irrigation projects in Telangana State, had visited the Thotapalli reservoir as part of the SRSP Mid Manair Dam project in Chigurumamidi mandal on Friday.

Talking to newsmen here, Janardhan Reddy demanded that the government should complete the ongoing projects by allocating around 15,000 crore in time bound programme to provide irrigation sources to several lakhs of acres in the State.

He said that many ongoing projects could be completed with the allocation of necessary funds in a time bound programme.

Ridiculing the State government’s decision to abandon the Thotapalli reservoir, he demanded that the government should take up the reservoir as the water into the project would come through gravity and several crores were spent on it.

He said that he would visit MMD, Sripada Yellampalli, Manthani and Kaleshwaram lift irrigation projects on Saturday.

He said that he would again launch the yatra in Adilabad district very soon.

BJP leaders G.Ramakrishna Reddy, M. Arjun Rao, Srinivas Reddy and others were also present.
