WARWICK, R.I. (AP) - More than 20 Rhode Island organizations have been awarded state grants of up to $25,000 to enhance job training as part of a new initiative.
Gov. Gina Raimondo and state officials on Friday announced the 21 recipients of the Real Jobs Rhode Island planning grants.
Raimondo says Real Jobs Rhode Island is an initiative designed to train employees for jobs that Rhode Island employers want to fill.
The grants total $479,000 and are provided by the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training.
The funds will be used to support partnerships among businesses and organizations, which in turn will determine what sort of training and education are needed.
Recipients include the Rhode Island Builders Association, the Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance and the Rhode Island Bankers Association.
