Kurt Anderson handling Bills offensive line in Aaron Kromer's absence

PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Assistant offensive line coach Kurt Anderson will "head up" coaching the Buffalo Bills' offensive line in Aaron Kromer's absence, coach Rex Ryan said Friday.

"He's obviously been here throughout camp," Ryan said. "I think he's got the qualities to be a fine offensive line coach. But it's just business as usual for us."

The Bills on Friday announced the hiring of Pat Meyer as a "football operations consultant." Meyer, who served as the Chicago Bears' offensive line coach last season under Kromer, was with the Bills during spring practices and assisted Anderson in drills Friday.

"Pat was hired the last day of minicamp," Ryan said. "So it wasn't that he was just hired. So he was already on board. It had really nothing to do with Aaron's situation."

As for Kromer, he remains on indefinite paid administrative leave from the team. He was charged in connection with a July 11 incident in which he is accused of punching a boy in the face in a dispute over beach chairs in Walton County, Florida.

"There's no update on that," Ryan said. "We're working with the league and still gathering the information."
