Rajkumar Hirani will always remain Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s best find. The quiet, unassuming filmmaker who shot to fame with money-spinners like the Munna Bhai movies, 3 Idiots and PK that Vinod produced (the last one was a co-production between Raju and Vinod), will reportedly be credited as an independent producer for his Sanjay Dutt biopic that is expected to go on the floor in the first half of 2016.

Our source says, “Vinod and Raju are friends. However, Raju will be producing and directing the Sanjay biopic solo for his banner. It will not have Vinod as a co-producer, as has been the case with films like PK.’’

It is a norm these days that lead actors also keep a percentage of the IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) and in that sense, they are also considered part-producers on projects starring themselves. In a similar fashion, the leading man of his next film will probably have a profit share. However, it is being said that for all practical purposes, Raju will fly solo on his next.
