Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Aug 1 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh High Court has issued notices to the state government and all 13 accused -- arrested in connection with the Jeeram Ghati Naxal attack -- on a National Investigation Agency (NIA) petition challenging the government order transferring trial of the case from Bilaspur to a special court at Jagdalpur, the divisional headquarters of Bastar. Admitting the NIA plea after a preliminary hearing here yesterday, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Naveen Kumar Sinha and Justice PS Kossi issued notices to the respondents to file their replies. On May 25, 2013 the then PCC President Nand Kumar Patel, former Union Minister Vidya Charan Shukla, former Leader of Opposition Mahendra Karma were among 29 Congressmen and security personnel who were martyred in the deadliest Naxal ambush on the party's "Parivartan Yatra" at Jeeram Ghati in Bastar. A special court was set up at Bilaspur for trial of the case. The national agency, which was handed over the investigation, had so far arrested 13 people, who were sent to jail custody by the Bilaspur special court. However, on May 19 this year the state government issued an order transferring trial of all cases reported in Bastar division to a special court at Jagdalpur. Bilaspur District and Sessions Judge Mahadev Katulkar, who was presiding over the special court, had earlier received a threat letter. The miscreants had also targeted his official residence at Bilaspur with a cracker bomb, but no one was arrested yet. The Judge had reportedly refused to hear the case further following the state government's order with regard to its hearing. UNI XC SS SY RK2304
