A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama here today. Issues regarding cement factories and problems faced by the residents of Khrew were discussed.According to GNS, Officers from Pollution Control Board, Industries, Revenue, Police, members of various civil societies and owners of cement factories participated in the meeting.It was decided in the meeting that a road map will be charted out to discuss all the issues within month and all the stake holders including concerned departments will meet again in the last week of August 2015 to discuss all the issues threadbare.Meanwhile, the Auqaf Islamia, Civil Society Khrew and Saffron Truck Union called off their indefinite strike following the assurance by Deputy Commissioner to fulfill their demand within a reasonable time.Pertinently, locals of Khrew had told Srinagar-based news agency GNS that the cement factories operational in the area are main source of air pollution which has affected 4.5 lakh kanals of saffron and agriculture land as well as wild life habitation. They further said that the out of 7, two cement factories are running illegally in the area. The locals said that the device which is mandatory for cement factories to install for controlling pollution is not being used by them. (GNS)
