Canepa facing assault charges after 2013 Mugello crash

Ducati World Superbike test rider Niccolo Canepa is set to face assault charges in an Italian court in September, after a crash at Mugello in 2013 where he allegedly purposely caused another rider to crash.

Caught on track CCTV, Canepa is alleged to have purposely hit the front brake lever of David Cappato after gesticulating angrily at him, causing the Suzuki rider to crash out, breaking his collarbone in the process.

Canepa, who is set to ride this weekend in Sepang for the Althea Ducati team, will face a hearing in front of a Justice of the Peace in Florence on the 30^th September.
