The Belt Parkway is the worst roadway in the five boroughs, based on claims filed against the city by motorists whose vehicles have been wrecked by potholes.
Figures released Thursday by Comptroller Scott Stringer show the highway has generated 706 claims for damages since July 1, 2010, by far the most.
The next worse, the Grand Central Parkway, has drawn 433.
The Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, Long Island Expressway and FDR Drive rounded out the worst five.
“If you happen to drive on the Belt, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers today,” Stringer said Thursday.
He slammed the city for spending $138 million on pothole settlements that could have gone instead to “schools and day-care centers and affordable housing.”
The worst stretches of the Belt are near the Mill Basin Bridge, said City Councilman Alan Maisel (D-Brooklyn).
“We’ve been asking [the Transportation Department] to fix it for years,” he said.
The agency defended its record, citing $1.6 billion budgeted for road resurfacing .
