Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand supports a docu-feature
When former World Chess Champion, Viswanathan Anand heard that a film was being made on the real-life journey of four young but blind chess players, Charudatta Jadhav, Darpan Inani, SaiKrishna S.T and Anant Kumar Nayak, he wanted to be a part of their reel-life journey too.
Algorithms, a docu-feature, set to release on August 21, has inputs by the Indian chess grandmaster. "The visually-impaired boys go on to compete in international championships and preferred to be beaten fairly, than submit to a politically correct draw.
They do not succumb to their handicap. That is what I admire most," Anand told Mirror. He has been working with sociologist and documentary filmmaker, Ian McDonald since the last three years. "We discussed it at the scripting stage. My heart has been with the film ever since," he smiles.
