Sonny Boy Jaro scored a major upset to claim the WBC flyweight title by beating champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam in Thailand.
Jaro stopped the Thai belt-holder in his home country in the sixth round to become the fourth world champion from the Philippines.
Pongsaklek was on his back in the first round and again in the fourth, though the referee attributed the second knockdown to the slippery conditions, following rain prior to the bout.
However, the 34-year-old generally looked sluggish and every bit five years Jaro's senior.
Jaro put the fight to bed in the sixth as he laid into Pongsaklek with both hands against the ropes, and the referee halted the fight with him slumped on the canvas.
