BLO to stage Philip Glass at Cyclorama

Boston Lyric Opera announced Thursday that its fall production of Philip Glass's "In the Penal Colony" will be performed at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts. It will be the first time professional opera has been performed there since Sarah Caldwell's 1970 production of Gustave Charpentier's "Louise." (Tickets for the BLO's new season go on sale Friday.) "In the Penal Colony," a one-act, two-character chamber opera based on a 1914 Franz Kafka short story, will run Nov. 11-15. BLO alumni Neal Ferreira and David McFerrin star in the production, which will be directed by R.B. Schlather.
