Municipal Commissioner Pravin Kumar, who visited the JNNURM housing complex at Pendurti on Thursday, expressed his unhappiness at the delay in providing basic amenities there.

Responding to complaints by residents about drinking water, underground drainage and street-lighting, he saw for himself the conditions and said if found to be negligent the contractor would be blacklisted.

If LED lights were not available, sodium vapour lamps should be fixed, he said.

He suspended the assistant engineer concerned for neglect in power supply and maintenance of street-lighting.

At Paradesipalem JNNURM housing complex, residents did not move in though all basic amenities were provided. Mr. Pravin Kumar said allotment would be cancelled if those allotted did not shift into them. However, residents said they were waiting for auspicious days and by August 10 everyone would move in.
